Mrr. I wish I knew how to make a /good/ livejournal site layout, because I'm getting sick of this WoW one. So, the first week of this quarter is through. Enviornmental Science will be OK, I've always been interested in that stuff, and I'll survive Speech (I hope e_e). Lotsa reading in both, and the Enviornmental textbook is... snot boring. Thus far Color and Design has been easy. I finished everything more than an hour early in that class, WHILE using paint, even. I haven't worked much with paint. I'm assuming the reason it seems so easy is that, technically, it's a Freshman class (I missed out on it because I had to take a math class >_<) and I've already been through the wringer with tougher stuff.

I HAVE INTRO TO 2D ANIMATION! Glee. We're starting with the typical bouncing ball animation, but that doesn't seem to be... too difficult (oh, sure, I say that NOW, I'm sure I'll be pulling out my scalp soon enough XD). Also, I've begun modeling a cartoony dog character in 3Dsmax in my free time. I need to practice 3D, even if just a little.

I canceled my Werewolf game at the Den. I couldn't handle it anymore. I messed up my own story! How much of an idiot am I? Feh. It was a distracting place to hold games, anyway. I have a million more respect points for Bryan and Kurt and Max and Sam and all the other people who DM/GM/ST games successfully in such a busy place. The game at AI, however, is going pretty well. It helps that we play in an empty classroom with no outside distractions and no one to have to talk over. I'm not good at talking over people. >_<

Homework 4 Weekend:
1. Read chapters 2, 3, 4, 5 in Speech textbook, take notes on 3, 4, 5.
2. Finish animation layout for bouncing ball.
3. Begin drawing frames.
4. Kill Bill. ... wait, wait, uh, wrong homework.
5. Read chapter 1 in science book, answer questions.
6. Space reserved for something I have forgotten. There's always something. ;P

Something very disturbing was brought to my attention by a poster at the POE News site after an article about a protester at a pro-Bush speech.

Ah, mid-quarter. Remind me why I decided to not take the summer off again? Oh, right, I'm fegging crazy. ;P Oh well. Intro to 3D isn't as daunting as I thought it would be, Conceptual Storytelling makes me want to gouge my brains out through my nose, but that class will be a breeze nonetheless (as long as there are no impromptu tests from the book... as I have not been reading the book... *cough* laaazy me). Though Character and Object Design has a whole shiteload of things to do. Model Sheet, Age Sheet, Expression Studies for the character, pose studies for character, and a scultped model said character. The stuff that involves drawing is no scary thing, as I am one with the pencil. I worry about my sculpting abilities, though. =.=; Ar.

Got my registration paperwork for Fall quarter, which will mark my second year of college. It went by so damn fast... I'm not a Freshman anymore! O_O Or I won't be, come Fall. Registration for classes begins next week. I've already figured out my classes.

Enviormental Science - 8-10am - M/W
Acting for Animators - 11-2pm - M/W
Color and Design - 8-11am - T/TH
Introduction to 2D Animation - 11-2pm - T/Th

And on Tuesdays only! Werewolf: The Apocalypse, 2-5ish pm. Now Amy can join the game, and maybe Amber, too. IF, of course, everyone playing currently can make sure their schedules will work. Heaven knows I changed my schedule around to accomadate them out of the goodness of my heart. Hey! Stop laughing! There is some good! SOME GOOOOOD! >E

Argh, the tinfoil I used to build the sculptures body gave me a cut on my finger. >_< It stiiiings.

Quick renders from my 2nd Intro to 3D assignment. It was to create a children's toy. So I did Lulu's moogle doll! >D Whee. Uh, still getting used to modelling, so, not very complex. I may add textures and make better wings... someday.

And since DA is being too slow on uploading the first Moogle render, I post them heeeeeere!

There we go. New icons and LJ background! Though photobucket resized the background, so it doubles... >_< Arghle. Oh well. This time's theme?

Used a Naga, Succubus, and... ugh... what are those glowing greenish rock dudes called again? I don't remember! Two Warlock summons, one mob, because all the screenshots of the player races SUCK. The only decent ones Blizzard had were Night Elf, Night Elf, Night Elf, Night Elf, and gawd frickin' Night Elf. I hate elves, durnitall. Aw well. And then the stuff in the background are from different cities in the game. For full pictures of this stuff, just search around www.blizzard.com, in the WoW area.

Oh, and I saw Spiderman 2 today. It really is better than the first.

Convergence officially begins tomorrow! HUZZAH! I'm going in to the hotel later today to help set things up and get my badge early (ah, the perks of being a subhead, I might actually get a good seat for Masquerade this year).

I have the posters printed. I have the schedule board done (though from that I have gained a hatred for rubber cement). And I have most of what I'm packing and taking along with me... piled on my bed or in the wash. c_C I'm bringing my goggles. GOGGLES! 8:D And my Totoro plushie. It can keep me company during my Theater Nippon shifts.

Now I just need to find out what the hell a subhead is actually supposed to do in the theater... o_o;;; I have a faint idea, but no definate clue.

Anywho, I'll be gone Friday, Saturday, and most of Sunday. I'll be back around Sunday evening. Ja ne!

A morning in the life of Lindsey:

I wake up at noon, trudge out to the kitchen to get some coffee... Mom mentions that she's taken the Mapmaker picture I made her for Christmas to be matted. I'm all, oh, okay, that's cool. Then she adds in an ever so innocent tone, 'Oh, we also entered it in the con's art show for you.'

'Just thought you would like to know.'

'I didn't know what to put down for it's title, though...'

'Uh... It was called the Mapmaker.'

'Ooooh. Yeah. That's much better than the name we thought of!'

'Ah... wait.. I mean... WHAT?!'

After five more minutes of that, I let it go. It was her present, so technically she owns the picture and can do as she pleases with it. It's a good thing she mentioned it to me before Convergence, otherwise I would have seen it there and we would have proooobably had a big, thrown-down-the-gloves arguement match in the middle of the friggin' dealer's room. c_C And I don't like arguing. Especially surrounded by people pretending to be Jedi and anime characters.

Oh well. That's life, no? Oh! And I got Scaleface! XD Yay for lizard girls.

The Carlson Curse [13 Jun 2004|06:37pm]
[ mood | uncomfortable ]

We Carlsons are cursed with a Murphey's Law. Only it isn't just normal Murphey's Law, it's SUPERMAN Murphey's Law, causing trouble faster than a speeding bullet... So, anything that can go wrong, will. It's Finals week (or will be, starting tomorrow), and I have come down with the worst cold I have had in five years. On top of that, my period started at the exact same time. >P Then I forgot to outline the text in my Ladyhawke movie poster, so I had to go to Kinko's, find that out the hard way, go back home to do that (which took, like, five friggin' seconds), and then go aaaall the way back to Kinko's and reprint it. It looks nice, though, so, eh.

I still have the 3 anime flyers and 2 general schedule posters to do before the 19th, too, for the next ConComm meeting. Well, 1 flyer, anyway. I just need to stick the times in on the two others (which I STILL HAVE NOT GOTTEN, but I can't blame anyone for that, life is busy for all) and then the little anime artish things to decorate the Consuite board with. I have no idea if I'll actually have time for those.

Oh well. At least some good things happened. Yesterday, the cold medicine and my lack of sleep made for a great mindset to roleplay as a Malkavian at Ian's Gehenna campaign. I wonder if I overdid the craziness a little, but, eh, it was fun. And since it ran short, I got to learn how to play Magic before leaving the Den. I guess it isn't as silly as I thought it was before, now that I have some understanding of the game.

I still have four pages of my storyboard left to do. I should do those. I really need to. I have to. But I'm in paaain and tiiired.. insert more whining and whimpering here. WHY ISN'T MY MIDOL WORKING?!! >_

You know that feeling... [12 Jun 2004|12:03pm]

...no, wait. Wrong show! Nevermind. o_O

Ugh. My brain has taken summer vacation a week early and I still have final projects to finish! I only have the first eight shots of my storyboard drawn and inked. -_- I'll probably get a good number done today before the Gehenna campaign begins and then I plan on finishing the rest on Sunday. Then I have to make color maps for the setting and the main characters. Monday, I start coloring, which gives me three days.

I also had this amazingly kickass Ladyhawke movie poster in the making for my final project in Typography. I saved it on one of the computers at school. People aren't supposed to clean out saved stuff during the week. I forgot my CD. I forgot to put a copy on the Public Drive. Someone got rid of it. I was not happy.

But I've made a new one to use, though it sucks compared. -_- But I just don't have the time to redo what I had before... I need to print that out and get a board to stuck it on. Good thing the art supply store and Kinkos are right next to eachother. ;P

Gots to finish the take home final for Crit. Thinking. Easy, very easy, as it's open note. I'll do the essay part in class, though.

Review for final test in Psychology on Monday.

And I still need the gard damn times for the parodies so I can finish the posters for them! >_< AR! AR, I SAYS! I shall have to pester Tom again.

And I think I'm coming down with something, too...

Hey, hey, does anyone have, like, a pause button for life? I need to borrow it.

I finished my Contest of the Bow storyboard in class, so I'm left with little to do (little to do being boring ol' bookwork, blech). It's a pretty damn solid piece, even before revision. I'm starting to think that I may just be a decent storyboarder... It's a nice thought. Makes me happy to know I'm good at something.

I just got back from seeing Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban with my parents. Oddly enough, it was my mom who dragged me along, not the other way around. What can I say about this movie... Well, if you're a kid, you'll love it. If you've read the books and can fill in the giant, gaping holes in it, you'll enjoy it. If you don't know a thing about Harry Potter, you're verily screwed. I'm not saying it was a bad movie, though. I enjoyed it, but I also missed some of the cut parts. The special effects and CG are stunning, and the deep space shots around the castle, I love 'em. Every single one of 'em. The Harry Potter movie sets are by far the best parts of the movies.

Ah. A couple hours until Vampire... Maybe I should have something for lunch.

There! New background. I should make some new user pic icon thingies, too, buuuut... da-ham, I'm lazy!

Apparently I've become a subhead for Convergence's Theater Nippon, too. I'm still not quite sure how that happened, though it has something to do with my mom volunteering me for something at a Con meeting that I did not attend (not that I've ever attended any of them). Oh well. I love anime, I love Convergence, so it'll be fun!

Our VtM group is trapped in McGee's Alice in Wonderland (well, not EXACTLY, but that's the best was to describe it; twisted and eeeevil). I got to kill the Mad Hatter! Though we almost got our asses handed to us by the March Hare. Then... lots of other insane stuff. Lots of other insane stuff.

And I'm certain I'm getting sucky grades for Typography and Crit. Thinking and... bleh. The only class I know I'm doing well in is Storyboarding. -_- Suffering! Pain! I want my three weeks of summer to arrive already!

As for storyboarding, our final storyboard is to be part of a myth, done in full color, 18-24ish shots again. I'm sure I'll go over like the other project, though. That ended up being 32 shots, 22 pages long. ;P But it kicked so much ass. I love that storyboard! I've decided on doing a part of the Odyssey, the part near the end where the main character dude is disguised as a beggar and there's that challenge with the bow.

Colors! :D

Holy smokes, Batman, my background is missing. I should do something about that. ... .... as soon as I stop bein' lazy.

Let's see, what's happened. Um. Thinking... thinking... School continues as regularly scheduled. I already turned in my registration for the summer quarter; three major classes.

Intro to 3D Modelling
Character and Object Development
And Conceptual Storyboarding

And all my friends followed my que and took the same courses. Oi. I know that having friends in class is grand, but do I really want ALL of them in 'em? c_C Ah well. I can cope.

My Storyboarding class might be going to see Shrek 2 this week, if the pre-critque goes off well. Which reminds me, I need to finish revising my rough storyboard. Let's see... what else... uh, apparently we'll be getting a new korat kitten sometime in the future, possibly in the summer. I want to name him Anatole. I think it's a good name, but noooo. Oh well.

The weekly Darwin's World/d20 Modern/Cthulu has been permanently cancelled because of Vampire: The Masqurade games. Why exactly, I do not know. I play Vampire, too, but I know that we don't play it on Sundays... or did the other players do something stupid to piss off Sam while I wasn't there. Damn it. I wanted to keep playing Darwin's World. My character had cannibalism! That would've been fun! Again... oh well. Life goes on. But I really wonder what the real reason was.

Blizzplanet.com is holding a Blizzard Fanart contest. I'm going to enter that, because the prize is a choice of a pre-ordered Starcraft: Ghost or a World of Warcraft Collecter's Edition CD. I'm so going for the WoW prize. >D Oh yeah. Free game. Woo hoo. I'm going to make something with a Troll Shaman in it, fersure.

And... stuff. Um. Typography sucks. I've lost over 20 lbs, putting me under 200 lbs (so very HAPPY!), and I still enjoy college.

That is all! Leave now.
